In the last several days heavy rains and winds destroyed most of the tents inside the Kanyabayonga transit camp, where some of the former FDLR combatants who laid down their weapons are staying along with their dependents. This situation has left young children and the elderly particularly vulnerable to weather born illnesses.

Since the departure of former UN representative Martin Kobler, there seems to have been improvement in the treatment of these refugees, except for minor incidents especially in Kisangani, where the Camp Director keep making life difficult for the residents and the health situation remains precarious. The hope for the Kanyabayonga residents is that this situation be resolved as quickly as possible as the worry for the most vulnerable of its residents keeps increasing by the day.
